Handmade Holidays: Handmade Tea Towel Parcels

The festive season is a time filled with the joy of shared laughter and generous gift-giving, generally speaking. But what happens when you find yourself stumped trying to find the perfect gift to give those you care about most? Rather than sifting through the shelves at the local shops again and again, why not put in a little bit of extra love (and keep a few extra dollars in your pocket) with one of these three handmade gifts!

These days, it seems everyone has that someone on their holiday list that is considered the ultimate foodie. They love food and cooking so much that they’re practically one Sage-infused-Porterhouse-Steak-with-a-Maple-glaze away from joining Masterchef themselves.

If their multiple #foodstagrams didn’t already give it away, their cupboards full of the freshest herbs, kitchen top lined with the fanciest appliances and shelves stacked with every cookbook imaginable definitely will.

And whilst buying them a new cookbook for their collection might seem like an easy solution – we’d like to suggest a more thoughtful alternative – something they can both eat and use in the kitchen!

What you’ll need

  • Corks
  • Craft knife
  • Tea Towels
  • Fabric paint
  • String or ribbon
  • Gift tags
  • Baubles (or decoration of choice)
  • Freshly baked treats (or bought – we won’t tell)

How to make it

  • Draw your preferred shapes onto cork
  • Cut shapes with a craft knife (cut deep enough to ensure the shapes will be clear when stamped with paint)
  • Select and pour your paints
  • Create your tea towel designs with as many paints and stamps as you like!
  • Let paint dry and iron your towel to seal the paint
  • Fill with your favourite holiday treats
  • Tie and decorate

A Foodie’s delight

Not only are tea towels always useful for the enthusiastic foodie, this one will always remind them of you! Plus, filling them up with a favourite holiday treat is just the added touch to really make your gift stand above the rest.

Want to leave the cooking to the master? Just as good a gift is our pre-prepared Lamington mix. Read on to find out how to put it together.
