Shopaholic Sharon

Your significant other calls you dedicated. Your friends call you a bit addicted. Your family calls you completely obsessed. Whatever way you put it, one thing is clear: You love online shopping. You’re an expert who knows exactly where to go to find the best deals and sales, and you tell all your friends the tricks of the trade, like letting items sit in your online shopping cart so you get a discount code sent via email 24 hours later from the retailer - genius.

There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to a bit of a shopping spree every now and then. Just remember many banks can charge international transaction fees if you use your card to purchase from an overseas based online retailer.

Fortunately there’s a way around this. With ING Orange One and Orange Everyday cards you don’t have to pay ING international transaction fees on purchases. You get this benefit when you deposit your pay of $1,000+ into an Orange Everyday every month and also make five+ card purchases every month (excluding ATM withdrawals, balance enquiries, cash advances and EFTPOS cash-out only transactions).

Impulsive Ian

You’re scrolling your social media feed and you see an ad for a new custom rugby jersey. All of a sudden you’re adding it to your cart and you’re ready to go.

If you find yourself buying on impulse a lot, don’t forget to stop and breathe, and have a think: there might be a place you can get a similar item, for less. Myshopping.com helps you compare prices of similar items from around the web, for instance.

If you find deals from sites outside of Australia, don’t forget there are no ING international transaction fees when you use an ING Orange Everyday or Orange One card, as long as you deposit $1,000+ into your Orange Everyday per month and make five or more card purchases per month (excluding ATM withdrawals, balance enquiries, cash advances and EFTPOS cash-out only transactions).

Special Occasion Sam

Maybe it’s your dad’s birthday and you’re looking for a gift that isn’t the standard socks and jocks. Maybe you’ve just moved into a new place and need some unique artworks to spruce the place up. You don’t shop online all the time, but when you do it’s something important.

If you’re keen to save more, take advantage of the seasons to get the best discounts. Retailers may mark down some of their seasonal items and you can reap the benefits. For instance, a US retailer may start marking down their winter clothing in March as their winter ends, but for us it will be just approaching.

Understand how to avoid international transaction fees that can pop up after you purchase on an overseas site. With an ING Orange Everyday or Orange One card for instance there are no ING international transaction fees, which is a great save. To get this benefit you just need to deposit $1,000 + into your Orange Everyday per month and make five or more card purchases per month (excluding ATM withdrawals, balance enquiries, cash advances and EFTPOS cash-out only transactions).

Traditional Tim

Sceptical of even the most tempting online deals, you prefer to stick to the traditional shops. This is fine – there are a lot of benefits like getting the personal customer experience and being able to see and feel the things you’re buying before taking them home. Just don’t forget you can get some really cool stuff when you shop from overseas retailers, and some great deals.

To avoid the fees you just need to deposit $1,000+ into your Orange Everyday per month and make five or more card purchases per month (excluding ATM withdrawals, balance enquiries, cash advances and EFTPOS cash-out only transactions).
